I wish! At least they have air conditioning there!

It has been a miserable week or two of over 90 here in the great Northwest. For those of you that still believe it rains here all the time, I have news for you! We are supposed to get temperatures upwards of 100 degrees today and tomorrow smashing a previous record in Seattle!

Most other places would be well equipped to handle such a drastic rise in temperature, but here in good ol'e Western Washington, few places have a/c and you're lucky if your house or apartment has it! Unfortunately for me and Les, we only have fans that we bought and let me tell you on the 3rd floor of a west facing building, they make little or no difference! It has been horribly miserable for us thick blooded, well insulated folks and my thick coated puppies!

Anyone have any brilliant ideas of how to escape the heat that are inexpensive and would include our dogs?

Compromise, Compromise, Compromise

Well here we are about 9 months into our marriage and things are going as well as I expected. I have come to understand the true meaning of compromise and sacrifice to make life happy for us both.

We have been incredibly blessed with amazing families on both sides and I couldn't feel more greatful if I tried! What I have found that comes along with this is that you can't please everyone all the time no matter how hard you try. I am having an internal battle as we speak trying to determine what the best decision is and who I have to let down to make everything work.

My husband and I were invited to Portland this coming weekend to see my Auntie Nancy before she has a hip replacement surgery. She is my Godmother and I want to see her very much! We have been struggling with money and trying to decide if we should go or not. A couple of days ago we got the news that Les' Auntie Val and Uncle Craig from Alaska (who rarely come down) will be here this weekend also. They are staying with Uncle Craig's dad about 3/4 of the way between here and Portland and Les REALLY wants to see them. Uncle Craig is a very important figure in Les' life as is Auntie Val. They are his Godparents also!

I love them all VERY much and want to see them all! So here's my huge dilema: My Auntie is having surgery. She's very important to me and she invited us weeks ago but she lives fairly close. Les' Aunt and Uncle are coming from Alaska and don't come very often and are very important to Les!

If it were you, what would you do?

Jen
